Hydro Jetting in Fort Collins & Loveland

High-pressure cleaning that clears roots, grease and scale from the full width of the pipe.

  • Camera inspection first
  • Written, itemized quotes
  • Serving Larimer County

Hydro jetting scours the inside of a sewer line with high-pressure water, cutting through roots, grease and scale that a snake only pokes a hole through. It restores the full diameter of the pipe, it is the right way to clean a line before it is lined, and on a sound line it can keep you clear of backups for much longer than snaking. It is not right for every line, which is why we look with a camera first.

How hydro jetting works

A jetting hose with a specialized nozzle goes into the line through a cleanout. The nozzle sprays water forward to break up the blockage and backward at an angle to pull the hose along and scrub the pipe walls. Different nozzles handle different jobs: root cutting, grease removal, or scale on old cast iron. Everything is flushed out to the main.

Snaking is fine for a one-off clog. When the same line keeps backing up, jetting usually lasts much longer.

When jetting is the right call

  • Recurring clogs in a line that is structurally sound.
  • Grease buildup, common in kitchens and in homes with garbage disposals.
  • Root intrusion, as part of a maintenance plan or before lining.
  • Scale in cast iron pipe, which narrows the line and catches waste.
  • Before trenchless lining, so the liner bonds to clean pipe. About trenchless repair.

When jetting is not safe

High-pressure water can make a broken, collapsed or badly deteriorated pipe worse, and in fiber (Orangeburg) pipe it can tear the walls. Many homes in established Fort Collins and Loveland neighborhoods still have original clay, cast iron or fiber lines: about 31% of Fort Collins homes and 34% of Loveland homes were built before 1980 (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2024 5-year estimates). That is why we run a camera inspection before jetting a line we have not seen. If the pipe is too far gone, we tell you, and show you the video.

Keeping a rooty line clear

If roots are getting into a line that is otherwise in decent shape, scheduled jetting can keep it flowing until you are ready to line or replace it. Many owners with large trees near the line jet every year or two. Lining the affected section is the permanent fix: it seals the joints the roots get in through.

What it costs

National cost guides commonly put a residential hydro jetting visit at a few hundred dollars, typically about $350 to $600, with long or heavily rooted lines costing more. We quote the price before we start, and tell you whether jetting or a simpler cleaning is the better value for your line.

Hydro jetting FAQ

Is hydro jetting safe for old pipes?

For sound pipe, yes. For broken, collapsed or fiber pipe it can cause damage, which is why we inspect with a camera before jetting a line we have not seen.

How long does hydro jetting take?

Most residential lines take one to two hours, including a camera check afterward.

How often should a sewer line be jetted?

Only as often as it needs. A line with grease or root problems may need it every one to two years until it is lined or replaced; a healthy line may never need it.

Will hydro jetting get rid of tree roots for good?

It removes them, but roots regrow through the same cracked joints. Lining or replacing the damaged section stops them permanently.

Sewer or water line trouble?

Call to schedule hydro jetting or a camera inspection.

Camera inspection first, written and itemized quotes, and trenchless options where they fit.
